Timing is Everything

November 3, 2010

When you are shooting exteriors, you are always at the mercy of the weather and the position of the sun, (unless you’re Joe McNally). So when I was outside shooting the front of this house for John Jennings, and the mid-day sun started to peek through all the huge fir trees in the back, I could sense something magical was happening there. So I grabbed my gear, found a vantage point with Grouse Mountain nicely framing the house, and shot several bracketed photos. I could tell instantly that one of these shots was going to become my new all-time-favourite exterior image.
